Power whip - Tangrowth by MeAreLegend Power whip - Tangrowth by MeAreLegend
Adobe Photoshop CS6

My first completed digital painting! I've been getting acclimated with photoshop all weekend and I'm just glad this is done. I haven't posted anything since November so I apologize, I've been working a lot.

There's definitely room for improvement and I think that will come the more I mess around with painting. I only used a round brush. So yeah NOT very experienced yet but I'm looking forward to working on more things like this. If anyone has any photoshop advice or any suggested improvements, I urge you to comment please! I want to improve so any help is gladly welcome!

Great composition. Super dynamic and inviting. :D My only advice would be to adjust the contrast, maybe? As it is it seems a bit light in value. But other than that, this is amazing for a first painting. You used the round brush well!

Hm, I do think the foreground could have been darker. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the input!

Wow, I love the composition, it really pulls you into the image, and all the diagonal ground planes push the cool composition even further! Keep up the good work! :D

Yeah, photoshop has so many things, too many for just one program i believe. I tried it at school but theres so many extra things i don't need and it gets messy xD

Just a knowledge of atmospheric perspective, lighter values the deeper objects are in the forest. I only used one brush which was a round brush, I'm still playing around with photoshop to see what brushes make for good use.

Well my only problem with what i did for the vegetation in the background are the fluffy shrubs directly behind Tangrowth, I don't think that kind of shrub exists naturally like that but it looks pleasing. I think the plants in the foreground are a more accurate depiction of what would naturally occur. The house my father built (with his bare hands) sits amidst acres of woodland. So i spent my childhood traversing those woodlands. And i did my best to draw from memory in combination with imagination. The details are there my friend you just have to learn to see them! :)
